Detailed Lake & Facility Information
at our Natick Location

In cooperation with:
Cochituate Canoe & Kayak, located on Lake Cochituate in Natick, is a wonderful location for your outing! We're conveniently located just off the MassPike, and Cochituate State Park offers a varied on-water experience plus a sand swimming beach, playing fields, and charcoal grills.
Like all our locations, we offer group discounts during non-peak hours to groups
renting eight boats or more. If you're renting fewer than eight boats, just come down — it's rare that we run out of boats. During our peak hours, reservations require pre-payment of the first hour of rental and an additional reservation fee.
What to Expect on the Water
Our location in Natick is on Lake Cochituate in Cochituate State Park, a former reservoir of the City of Boston. The lake has three main sections (North, Middle, and South "Ponds"), each of which is approximately 1 mile by 1/3 mile in size and has numerous coves. Our boathouse is on the north end of the Middle Pond. Between the ponds, you'll find bridges and tunnels leading to smaller, more intimate places to explore. Expect powerboat traffic, especially on weekends.
Where to Stop While Paddling
There are a number of locations where paddlers on Lake Cochituate can stop to eat, rest, or walk. All docks on the lake are private, but much of the shoreline is public — see our Paddling Map for locations.
Groups heading to the North Pond can land at several sandy or gravelly spots at the south end. Groups paddling the South Pond are greeted with a small, but inviting, island at the north end and a large swath of public land at the south end, including Pegan Cove Park. Most of the Middle Pond's shoreline is privately owned but there are some good stopping points along the west side.

Our Facility in Natick
We are located in Cochituate State Park in Natick, in a small boathouse next to the boat ramp. Immediately adjacent to our boathouse, in a large patch of pine trees, there is a large picnic area (see photo at right) with charcoal grills.
Just beyond the picnic area there is a swimming beach, which is lifeguarded during the summer months. There are playing fields beyond the beach.
Nearby Restaurants & Catering
While no eateries are located within the park, there are a number of restaurants located nearby, including a large number of well-known restaurants on Route 9 in Framingham, about 2 miles away.
Paddling and food are a great combination — view our favorite local restaurants and caterers. We are happy to arrange catering for your event.
