Rental Boat Condition & Warranty
Our boats are used and do vary in condition. Most have many scratches on the hull, while some are closer to new condition.
All boats are structurally sound and have many more years of use left in them (if we don't sell them this year, we'll use them again next year).
Some boats have been repaired. We guarantee our repair work for life (bulkhead repairs are guaranteed for 1 year).
Seats, footpegs, and rudders/skegs (if applicable) are in working order.
Boating in Boston stands behind our rental boats with a 30-day Warranty against defects.

What boats are available?
We make almost all canoe and kayak models in our rental fleet available for purchase. Browse the web site
for a complete offering. Within a given model, we select the boats that will be available for purchase; not all colors or individual boats will be available.
What condition can I expect? The condition of our boats will vary, but in general our boats are well-used and scratched, but structurally sound. See our detailed description in the left column.
What if I care about color? A reservation does not guarantee you a specific boat or color within the model you choose. If you want to choose a specific color or boat, our remaining stock will be available on a first-come, first-served basis on Sept. 11. With some rental boats we only have one of each model so you will be able to reserve a boat knowing the exact boat you will be purchasing.
Once the boat has been picked up, all rental boat sales are final.
If the customer chooses to cancel the boat purchase before the boat is picked up, the customer may choose to hold the entire amount as a store credit that can be applied to anything we do, including boat and accessory purchases, instruction, and trips.
If the customer chooses to cancel and would like a refund, a 10% cancellation fee will be assessed.
If the cancellation is due to a structural issue, the cancellation fee will be waived and a full refund will be provided.
All boats will have working seats, footpegs, and rudders/skegs (if applicable).
For plastic boats and SUP boards, structural issues include repairs to the hull using welding or patching, and severe dents in the hull. Scratches are not structural issues.
For composite boats and SUP boards, structural issues include any repairs using fiberglass or Kevlar cloth. Chips, cracks, and scratches to the gel coat are not structural issues, though any gel-coat defects that reveal the underlying cloth will be repaired.
If the customer chooses to get a different boat of lesser value than what was reserved, the balance will be provided as a store credit that can be applied to anything we do, including boat and accessory purchases, instruction, and trips. If the customer would like a refund of the difference, a 10% cancellation fee will be assessed on the difference.
Within a given model, specific boats (including specific colors) cannot be reserved.
