13th Annual Mystic River Herring Run & Paddle Sunday May 17th 2009 5 K Road Race & Three Mile or 12 Mile Canoe & Kayak Race Run, Walk, or Paddle for the Fish!

Run along a flat and fast course on the Mystic River bike path, dashing past thousands of herring returning from the ocean back to the Mystic river. Or hop in your canoe or kayak and paddle up the river following the herring up towards the Mystic Lakes following a 3 mile or 12 mile course. Compete in both races and be eligible for the Iron Herring award for the male and female with the fastest overall time in the 5K road race and the 12 mile paddle.

Location: Boys and Girls Clubs, Blessing of the Bay Boathouse, 32 Shore Drive, Somerville, Massachusetts.

Registration: Pre-register by May 12th and receive a Mystic River T shirt. T Shirts are not guaranteed for day of race registrations

Where Should You Park: At the Somerville District Court, 175 Fellsway, Somerville.

Registration: 5k Race & Walk registration opens at 8:00 am - Race starts at 9:00 am Paddling Race registration opens at 8:30 am - Race starts at 10:30 am.

Boat Classes: Single Kayak, Single Racing Kayak, Double Kayak, Tandem Canoe (must meet 16% rule), Tandem Racing Canoe, and Solo Canoe. Additional classes may be created based on registrations.
