Kendall Square Community Skating offers our "Ice Stars" program for those who want to learn or improve their skating. Our instructors teach based on the Ice Skating Institute weSKATE Lesson Program and are hand-picked for their ability to work with the lesson's age group. If you or your child have never skated before, or if you'd just like to feel more comfortable on the ice, Ice Stars is for you!
Learn to Skate
Our Learn to Skate program is designed for those who have never skated or who have never had formal lessons. We begin with how to get up and fall down on skates, then progress to the fundamentals of skating, stressing balance, glide, and proper form on the ice.
All classes meet once a week for five weeks. Learn to Skate classes are divided into Adults, Youth (ages 6-10), and Tots (ages 3-5). An Advanced Beginner Session for adults is also available for those who have some skating experience.

Basic Skills
Our Basic Skills program, for children ages 6-10, is designed for those who wish to improve their skills and progress toward figure skating. Students should already be able to skate and glide without falling, and do a snowplow stop. Skaters concentrate on proper stroking, solid edging, crossovers, backward skating, and beginning jumps. With a low 5:1 student:instructor ratio, students are allowed to progress at their own pace through the skills. The class meets once a week for five weeks.

Private Instruction
If your schedule does not match our group lessons, or if you would like to work on a specific skill, please call to arrange for private instruction. Our professional instructors will tailor a lesson specifically for your needs, and you get the benefits of true one-on-one instruction. Admission is included; skate rental is available for an additional charge.
$30 per half-hour for the first student
$10 per half-hour for a second student (max. two students)
