Introductory Sea Kayaking Trips 2011

If you would like a one-day introduction to sea kayaking, our Level 1 Kayak Trips cover many of the skills introduced in the Introduction to Kayaking series while taking time to enjoy a day along the prettiest sections of the Massachusetts coast.
Our introductory trips emphasize skills development, but you'll also spend time touring the area. You'll learn efficient paddling technique, the necessary strokes to maneuver your kayak in any direction, and advanced techniques such as bracing to prevent a capsize. Particular emphasis will also be placed on safety issues such as trip selection and practicing both self- and assisted rescues and re-entries.
If you plan to become a sea kayaker, this trip serves as excellent preparation for one of our Level 2 Day Trips or Ocean Skills Clinics. Otherwise, it's a great way to learn basic and advanced skills in a beautiful setting.
If, instead, you have previous paddling instruction, view all our trips. We offer instructional and destination trips to a variety of locations along the coast.
Life jacket, paddle, wetsuit, and paddling jacket rentals are included in the price of the trip. Drysuit rentals are available for $20 per trip. Bring a hearty lunch, and dress for the weather! Trips always run unless the weather is extreme; alternate plans will usually be arranged. Please call us at (617) 965-5110 if you have questions.
Our introductory trips are available from our Newton Boathouse (you'll travel by van to the destination; trips run from 8am to 5pm) or from our T-accessible Kendall Square location (you'll leave from our dock on the Charles and paddle into Boston's Inner Harbor; trips run from 9am to 4pm).

$139 includes full-day trip with expert guiding (max. 5:1 student:instructor ratio) using your own boat.
