Combine amazing skyline views with the excitement of paddling on Boston Harbor, add in a wonderful meal, and you've got our Barking Crab Tour! Barking Crab Tours begin at our T-accessible Kendall Square location and end with a short van-ride from the restaurant back to our starting point
We'll begin with a quick introduction to kayak strokes, then we'll launch our double kayaks and head toward the harbor, passing the Museum
of Science, original Charles River Dam, and Zakim Bridge before we transit the locks into Boston Harbor.
Now in the world of salt water and tides, we'll paddle to the Charlestown Navy Yard to view the U.S.S. Constitution and U.S.S. Cassin Young, then head along the waterfront. Wonderful skyline views, along with such landmarks as the New England Aquarium, Rowe's Wharf (above), and Moakley Courthouse, await!
We'll glide into Fort Point Channel, pass close by the restored Boston Tea Party Ship Beaver, and then dock at the Barking Crab, then sit down for a perfect seafood lunch. You'll choose your own meal from their complete menu (which includes vegetarian and non-seafood options) and pay at the restaurant (be sure to bring a method of payment). Because we won't be getting back on the water after lunch, consumption of alcoholic beverages in moderation is permitted.
In case you are not familiar with the restaurant, the Barking Crab is Boston's premier waterfront clam shack, with fresh lobster,
crab, clams, oysters, and more. They have a complete menu of sandwiches, entrees, and traditional fried seafood. The Barking Crab also offers steaks, burgers, chicken, soups, salads, and at least one vegetarian option.
Once our bellies are full, it's time to sit back and relax as we take a quick and relaxing van ride through historic downtown Boston. Your driver will point out the landmarks we pass on the way back to Kendall Square.
Our Barking Crab Tour will spend approximately 2–2.5 hours on the water and is designed for paddlers of any level. The entire event, including lunch and van ride back, is expected to take approximately 4 hours.
